Stone laid upon stone,
A metaphor for
The piled up hopes
Of every heart.
No work of man
Expresses more
His wish for beauty,
Search for unity.
No other place
Provides in all his home,
His trade or post,
His friends, his boon.
Man’s monument
To knowledge, art,
To wayfaring,
To harmony, hearth.
Stacked ever higher,
Larger and wider,
Market for sellers and for buyers
Of information, technology.
