Humankind

Tamed by frights, delights and clime,
Taught by poets, priests and rhyme,
Fed by comets, wheat and brine,
Warmed by coals and shoals and wine,
Clothed by looms, cocoons and vines,
Trained by sages,  pages,  lines,
Cheered by stars and larks and mimes,
Ruled by tools, computers,  time,
Healed by lasers, smiles and shrines,
Helped by hands and Heart Divine,
Still  by  rituals  entwined,
We alone are...humankind.
