Lemon (V2)

Round,
roughshod,
brightly citron,
electric like the sun,
blossom-fragrant invitation
repelling acidly at first taste,
cut edge a dripping starburst
of wet, outflung pulpy rays
punishing a tongued query,
membranous, diaphanous,
glowing, opaque, golden,
the essence of forbidden
fruit, abandoned dream,
until paired in elegant
simplicity with warm
cup or cool glass
of daystopping
tea
