What Every Newborn Knows

 

Every newborn
knows this:
all a baby
has to do
is to suck
in order to live.

Craning neck,
pulling hands,
clasping fingers,
rolling body
find their way
to a nipple,
know what to do
with it,  if one
happens
to be near.
