Surrounded by life’s marketplace,
Something to want most everyplace
Not happy with my lot in life,
Nor content to have no strife;
Enveloped by some nemesis,
Enjoined by troubles or a wish
Encumbered by mean jealousies
Or burdened with sad memories
My mind calls me to past decisions
To revisit, make revisions
I yearn for what I can’t explain,
I seek affection for life’s pain
The heavy heart waits, unfulfilled.
Finds nothing here its cry make stilled
For, souls can’t rest until at home,
Beyond this life, with God alone.
